Pop-up covid testing introduced across Kingston as concerns about case rate grow

By Ellie Brown - Local Democracy Reporter 4th Jun 2021

Pop-up covid testing is taking place in areas across Kingston as concerns about the borough's case rate grow.

Residents who live in virus hotspots including Hook, Chessington and Norbiton are being urged to visit their local temporary test centres as the Council prepares to introduce surge testing and vaccinations to combat the spread.

This follows news yesterday (3 June) that Kingston borough now has a higher covid transmission rate than Hounslow , with at least five cases of the fast-spreading 'indian' variant confirmed.

In a post on its website Kingston Council said: "Due to a rise in cases of coronavirus in parts of our borough, we are setting up pop-up COVID-19 testing sites in some areas of Kingston.

"If you live in an area local to one of our pop-up sites, please pay us a visit to receive your free coronavirus test.

"We're currently offering testing in these particular areas as this is where we are seeing above borough average numbers of COVID-19 cases at the moment."
