Exclusive: Surbiton restaurant owners to launch new distillery on Kingston riverside

By Ellie Brown - Local Democracy Reporter 7th Jun 2021

The founders of two popular Surbiton restaurants, No97 and Cento Uno, are launching an exciting new venture, a distillery on the riverside at Kingston, Nub News can exclusively reveal today.

Sam Berry and his wife Alex are planning an 'innovative and creative spirits brand and distillery in the heart of Kingston."

The project is currently called 'Bone Idyll.'

Their decision has been influenced by the growth they have witnessed during their own experience running their four local businesses and with £100,000 worth of gin sales in the last 12 months and sold out gin masterclasses with 100 people signing up each time.

Sam and Alex also run OneOneFour in Teddington, The Hideaway in Thames Ditton and will soon be taking over a wedding venue called Bury Court in Farnham.

Sam told Nub News: "This is our next baby that we hope to bring into our totally beautiful, dysfunctional family.

"For us we feel it is the missing part of the puzzle. Distilling in the day and slinging cocktails into the late hours of the evening!

"We have this vision to grow another community around a global spirits brand.

"Community is at the heart of what we do, and you are part of our community.

"We genuinely don't think we would have survived without your support which has been the main driving factor in keeping us going.

"Bone Idyll is exploding onto the scene, anchored by community. We're ready to take on the world, and bring creativity back to premium spirits."

The distillery, which aims to be operational next year, will also have a café and bar area with dedicated space to host events as well as a bottle shop producing 75.000 bottles of gin, vodka and rum every year as well as an exotically named range of cocktails and merchandise.

There will also be a gin school where visitors can make their own gin, tours of the distillery and gin cruises on the River Thames. Investor opportunities are also available.
