Gail's bakery, which is set to open a new venue in Surbiton, has applied for permission to have an outdoor seating area at the front of the store.

The site is on Claremont Road and was formerly home to Lloyds Bank, which closed in March alongside dozens of branches nationwide.

The pavement licence application was submitted to Kingston Council and requests permission to have two tables, four chairs, and a bench on the pavement areas to the front and side of the shopfront for the purpose of consuming food or drink.

This outdoor seating area, if approved, would operate from 7am – 7pm seven days a week.

Gail's previously submitted an application to have an even larger outdoor seating area, but this was rejected.

The application is currently under review, and members of the public have until 26 November to submit feedback here.

The new Gail's is set to open its Surbiton bakery this Thursday (20 November).
