A Kingston charity is hosting free training workshops for local residents this week.

Save the World Club, which is based on Southsea Road, is hosting the events for anyone interested in volunteering with its Community Cafe (launched last week), Community Kitchen or Community Fridge teams One session on Thursday, 2 April from 4pm - 7pm and Saturday, 4 April from 3pm - 6pm.

Tariq Shabbeer, General Secretary of Save the World Club, described the workshops as "a great way to build skills and make a real difference in our local community."

Each event will include an informal discussion on mental health challenges faced by the community as well as accredited small groups and one-to-one training on food hygiene, first aid, manual handling, and slips, trips and falls awareness.

Sessions are open to existing Save the World Club workers and volunteers, as well as anyone else interested in getting involved with the charity's work.

Places for the workshops can be booked here.
