A rising US singer is set to take the stage at a Kingston wine cafe this week.

Caitlin Krisko, who has received transatlantic acclaim as the lead singer of blues band The Broadcast, is set to perform at ExCellar on Thursday, 2 April, as part of a wider UK tour.

Krisko will be performing with the group's guitarist, Aaron Austin, in a stripped-down acoustic version of the band's regular shows.

The Detroit native will be opening for her friend Elles Bailey ahead of the Bristolian's upcoming album release tour, and was particularly complimentary about the fellow blues vocalist's championing of female musicians.

She said: "Elles is one of the warmest and kindest people we've ever met on the road. "Her passionate support for other female artists is so uplifting."

Krisko also waxed lyrical about the enthusiasm of London crowds, and expressed her elation at having the chance to play ExCellar after being introduced to the venue by Bailey.

She said: "I love London. Every time we come here the audiences really listen, which is everything to me. It inspires us to rise to it and give it everything we've got.

"People here really show up. There's a level of attention and respect that's really special, especially for this kind of sound.

"I really love playing places where people are there for the music, not just passing through, and ExCellar has that kind of energy."

The ex-New York resident has also received praise from major music publications, including Rolling Stone, whICH described her as "one of the best-kept vocal secrets of the Southeast (of the US)."

As a longtime fan of the magazine, it was a particularly surreal moment for the North Carolina-based songstress.

She said: "We've been building this independently for a long time, so to be recognized like that by something I grew up reading… it was one of those moments where you stop and go, okay, this is really happening." As exciting as the current tour is for Krisko, she hopes it represents just the start of what could be a golden era for The Broadcast.

The group's debut full length album, Heirloom, is set to be released this autumn, and plans have been made to bring the full band back to the UK in October this year and January-September 2027.

She said: "Things are opening up in a really dynamic way right now for us in the UK, and we are deeply grateful to have such enthusiastic support so far from home."
