Kingston and Surbiton Green Party launches campaign for upcoming local elections
By Tilly O'Brien 31st Mar 2026
Kicking off its campaign, the party has been using the traditional tactics of door knocking and handing out flyers, including a campaign trail through Surbiton yesterday (Monday, 30 March).
The party's initiatives for St Mark's and Seething Wells include:
- Save Seething Wells filter beds and cherish green spaces.
- Keep our streets safe and accessible.
- Better Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support and empowering young people.
- Promote active travel and improve public transport for everyone.
- Create an open, accountable council.
Speaking about the campaign, Kingston and Surbiton Green Party member, Dr Debojyoti Das, told Nub News: "For me the number five is the borough wide top agenda to make the council accountable.
"Currently the lib dems are ineffective and they take unilateral decisions on everything and are not accountable to anyone. We are here to reduce their super majority and listen to peoples everyday concern."
The local Green party officially exceeded 450 members back in January this year.
