Beauty pageant contestant hosts charity Valentine’s pamper day in Kingston
As part of her campaign for Mrs World UK, Louise Kingman, from Kingston, hosted a charity Valentine's pamper day at Pretty Fit Aesthetics on Richmond Road yesterday, Sunday 9 February.
Kingman is representing Kingston for this year's Mrs World UK pageant and all money raised from tickets to the events was donated to Cancer Research UK.
Speaking about being a contestant for the pageant, Kingman told Kingston Nub: "I am using the beauty pageant platform to spread awareness of secondary breast cancer after my mum's diagnosis."
Kingman lives in Kingston and works at the Gym Group in Kingston.
Twelve people attended the event and were provided with complimentary glasses of prosecco, a shot of Tequila Rose, and a buffet of sandwiches, pastries, and fruit.
Guests were also invited to purchase various treatments at discounted prices, including facials, lip fillers, brow and lash treatments, and spray tans.
And Pretty Fit Aesthetics owner Abby agreed for proceeds from the treatments to be donated to Cancer Research UK.
There was also a charity raffle, and attendees were given goodie bags provided by the salon.
Speaking about the event, attendee Rosaleen Duke told Kingston Nub: "I'm here today to support Louise and to help her raise as much money as we can for the amazing charity Cancer Research UK.
"Abby, who is the owner of this salon, is absolutely amazing, and I recommend everyone to get some treatments here."
Mrs. World is the first beauty pageant for married women, conceived in 1984. The concept of the pageant itself has its roots in Mrs. America.
From 1984 to 1987, the pageant was known as Mrs. Woman of the World and was changed to Mrs. World in 1988.
The contest is the biggest marital pageant in the world.
