In an exclusive interview with Kingston Nub last week, Kingston and Surbiton MP Ed Davey expressed his concerns about plans to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

This comes after the news last week that the government backs the plans with the hope to grow the British economy.

As part of Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves' and the Labour government's plans to 'kickstart economic growth' across the country, they believe a third runway would "unlock" further investment into the UK.

The Chancellor also said the plans could create more than 100,000 jobs.

However, the Liberal Democrat leader, Ed Davey, disagrees, saying he is "worried about Heathrow".

He said: "Noise and pollution is not going to bring the growth the government says it will in the long term or in the broader economy."

Instead, Ed Davey MP believes that "we should have customs with the EU and trading arrangements".

He told Kingston Nub: "If you want growth and you want it quickly, send that out."

Ed Davey MP continued: "In terms of flight, work harder on clean flights.

"I'm not against flying, but I'm worried about noise and pollution, and the tech improvements proposed are marginal.

"We need an industrial strategy to make Britain a leader in clean aviation and ambition for clean flying.

"I'm not against expansion but against the problems it could cause."
