Kingston's vibrant restaurant scene celebrated in new food trail

By Ellie Brown - Local Democracy Reporter 25th Nov 2021

BOTTOMLESS brunches, bohemian lager and hummus you can make at home - Kingston's new food trail boasts a menu of delights.

Run by Creative Youth, 'A Taste of Kingston' celebrates our town's vibrant dining scene with a host of events including free samples of food and drink.

The new trail was launched today and runs until Sunday 28 November.

It highlights the different types of cuisine you can find dotted around our town's streets - from sumptuous street food to locally-brewed lager.

The culinary adventure through Kingston town centre has a global focus, with cuisine from Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East all spotlighted.

There's also a splash of creativity, as a street artist will be producing a new mural on the Undercroft by John Lewis riverside near Kingston bridge.

Events include a special Friday night a DJ set at Woodys restaurant along with a tasting of its Chicago-inspired menu and drinks.

Other Kingston favourites including The Cheeky Pea, Chakra and 7000 Jars of Beer are joining in on the action.

Events this week include:

  • 'Give Chickpeas a chance' hummus tasting and quizzes at The Cheeky Pea (Eden Walk)
  • Free cocktails and Bohemian Europe-inspired beer at 7000 Jars of Beer (Crown Passage)
  • Indian food samples at Chakra (Riverside Walk)
  • Parisian-style elderflower spritz and bottomless brunch at Haché (Riverside Walk)
  • Live rock and daring drinks at The Fighting Cocks (Old London Road)
