Rhodo bashing at Kingston Hill

The Kingston University Biodiversity Action Group (KUBAG) have been removing the invasive rhododendron species from the wilds of the Kingston Hill campus woodland with different groups over the years. There is much more still to be cleared to make way for a richer habitat to start to re-develop, and allow light in for tree saplings to regenerate.

A fun physical session is ensured as volunteers lop, chop and dig the established shrub out of the woodland. Experienced guidance and a good workout guaranteed!

Booking is essential for this free event, as well as the booking details (name and email) please email the following extra information to[email protected]:

  • Dietary allergies - we normally provide snacks at our events,
  • Mobile number - we use this to contact people on the day of the event, if we have to cancel due to weather or our meeting location changes.

Muybridge, Lego and Robotics Workshop at Kingston Museum

Inspired by Muybridge's most famous work, Beyond Blocks will be hosting a robotics session where you get to build a LEGO horse for yourself, before attaching motors and learning some programming to make it move.

The session is for children aged from 7-11 and is designed to teach programming and engineering, while being a fun and light-hearted event. Children below the age of 7 will not be admitted to the session. The session will take around 90 minutes. Participants can turn up at any time as long as they have 90 minutes left to build before the end of the session.

Learners work in pairs with other children to complete their project.

All kit is provided and no programming experience is necessary.

Jason Manford at the Rose Theatre

Jason Manford is back at the Rose this Sunday! It's been a busy few years for Jason since his last smash-hit stand up show, but fans of his Absolute Radio show will know this nationally acclaimed comedian hasn't changed a bit. Like Me is Jason's latest comic offering set to hit the road and is sure to be 'expert observational comedy' (The Guardian) mixed with 'comic gold' (Mail on Sunday).

Jason said: 'After the fun we had on my last tour Muddle Class, I'm excited to get back on the road with my new stand-up show, Like Me. In these trying times it's always important to be able to get away for a couple of hours and exercise the old chuckle muscle! So, I'm coming to a venue near you so we can have a good laugh together. See you then.'
