The Metropolitan Police have announced that those responsible for the murder of 32-year old Farhad Joseph Khalili were jailed yesterday, 19 February, following a successful conviction at the Old Bailey.

Sean Deery, 28, and Sebastian Niven, 18, have both received life sentences, with minimum terms of 25 and 14 years imprisonment respectively.

Mr Khalili was walking along Surbiton Crescent at around 7pm on 15 December 2021 when he was ambushed by the pair, with Mr Niven being 15-years old at the time of the attack.

Despite sustaining multiple stab wounds, Mr Khalili was able to reach Surbiton Road, where CCTV footage reportedly shows him stumbling to the doorway of a kebab shop.

London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance attended, but Mr Khalili died at the scene.

Both his assailants were in police custody by the following day.

Evidence including CCTV footage and blood-stained clothing in Mr Niven's home was enough to charge both with murder, despite neither answering any questions in police interviews.

While it has been established that Mr Khalili knew his assailants, it is not known to the Metropolitan Police why he was attacked, nor why the attack was so violent.

Detective Inspector Jim Barry, from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "I hope these sentences bring some small degree of comfort to Farhad's family and friends who have been left to deal with the tragic outcome."
