PICTURE SPECIAL: free Light Up Kingston event illuminates town centre for half term
There is still time to visit Light Up Kingston, "an enchanting light experience" running from 8 to 18 February.
The event is run by both Kingston First and Riverside walk, with aims to bring the community together during the often isolating winter months.
Local businesses are joining in by offering discounts to those who receive three stamps from high-viz-clad stewards stationed at various points along the route.
Kingston's Market Place is home to one of the most eye-catching artworks, Heofon Light Maze, where you can acquire one of your stamps.
There are a total of seven installations across the town, including the projection show Off the Wall which features local landmarks such as the falling red telephone boxes of David Mach's Out of Order.
The iconic Kingston resident Nipper, otherwise known as 'The HMV Dog', also makes an appearance in the film, which is being shown just around the corner from his namesake Nipper Alley.
Also listed on the map is the pre-existing Echolocation by Mat Collishaw located along Bishop's Hall, which celebrates the royal heritage of Kingston through a 11-metre-long video created using LiDAR technology.
The organisers report that the show is the first of its kind in the town.
Light Up Kingston runs from 16:30 to 21:30 daily until 18 February, with more details available here.
