3702 Kingston and Surbiton residents have signed a petition calling for a General Election.

The petition has garnered over three million signatures nationally, with frustrated voters calling for a repeat of the General Election.

It comes as part of frustrations that Labour "have gone back on" promises set out ahead of 4 July.

A debate on the petition took place in Parliament yesterday, Monday 6 January.

While the petition remains open, no further discussions must be had following the debate and the government's response.

Following the debate, a spokesperson for the Labour Government said: "This Government was elected on a mandate of change at the July 2024 general election.

"Our full focus is on fixing the foundations, rebuilding Britain, and restoring public confidence in government."

The constituency with the highest number of signatures is Brentwood and Ongar.

Should there be another General Election, the MP for Kingston and Surbiton and leader of the Liberal Democrats will be in the running for Prime Minister again.

Speaking about the potential re-election and Ed Davey MP being in the running for PM again, one local resident told Kingston Nub: "Ed Davey would be worse than Starmer.

"Keep Ed for the local MP - this is fine but keep him out of parliament.

"Just look at his record when post office minister., he completely ignored the people who were in the right. No Davey."
