The site of a former Mexican restaurant chain in Kingston is set to become an Italian restaurant chain.

Las Iguanas, which was formerly located on High Street, closed its doors last month (October).

The site is currently being transformed into Italian restaurant chain Prezzo.

Las Iguanas shared news of its closure in a Facebook post early last month.

It said: "Fond Farwell Kingston.

"After years of Latin vibes, brunches, and unforgettable nights, Las Iguanas Kingston is closing its doors.

"Thank you for every cocktail, every dance, and every memory — you made this place what it was."

Prezzo Kingston dubs itself as "the best Italian restaurant in Kingston".

Its website says: "Prezzo Italian Restaurant Kingston invites you to indulge in an authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of Kingston upon Thames.

"Every dish on our menu celebrates the art of Italian cooking — crafted with passion, tradition, and the freshest ingredients. From our creamy Spaghetti Carbonara to our classic Margherita pizza and decadent Tiramisu, each bite embodies the rich flavours of Italy.

"Nestled in The Malthouse, our restaurant combines contemporary style with a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you're dining with friends, enjoying a romantic evening, or celebrating with loved ones, Prezzo Italian Kingston offers the perfect setting for any occasion."

The new restaurant is set to open on Tuesday, 11 November.

You can book a table here.

It will be available for dine in and takeaway and will be open from 12pm - 10pm seven days a week.
