Remembrance Sunday road closures across Kingston

With Remembrance Sunday vast approaching this weekend (9 November), here is a list of the events and any road closures taking place across the borough.

Temporary Traffic Notices are in force from 7am on Sunday, 9 November across all areas where Remembrance Services will take place. During the times of all road closures for the four events across RBK all parking will be suspended. If you have a parked car in an affected area, you must ensure it is moved before 7am.

Kingston Town Centre

On Sunday, 9 November 2025 at 10.30am, there will be a Civic Procession leaving from the Guildhall through the Market Place to the war memorial where a Service will take place. 

Several contingents from local organisations will also be taking part in this Service. This short outside service, which will include the laying of wreaths, will last until around 11.10am.

A Service of Remembrance will then take place in All Saints Church, starting at around 11.15am and finishing at around 12pm. 

The Civic Procession will then return to the Guildhall at the end of the Church Service.

At around 12.15pm, all the contingents from local organisations (Regimental Units, Cadets, Scouts, RBL, etc) will muster around the Market Place and then start the March Past in front of the Guildhall (finishing at about 12.30pm).

It should be noted that during the above times, the procession route will need to be kept clear. 

For reasons of security, police and stewards will not be allowing any vehicles to enter the below locations between 8am and 1pm:

  • High Street, between Kingston Hall Road and Eden Street
  • Market Place
  • Memorial Square (Church Street).
  • Union Street, between its junction with Church Street and n.44 

For businesses, we the council asks that you notify your suppliers that they will not be able to get access to the area between 8am and 1pm.

Surbiton

On Sunday, 9 November 2025 at 10.15am there will be a procession leading from Hollyfield Road, along Ewell Road to the war memorial located at the front of Surbiton Library where a Service will take place at 10.45am.

Several Contingents from local organisations will also be taking part in this Service.

A series of road closures will be put in place as authorised by the Temporary Traffic Notice, including:

  • Hollyfield Road will be closed pre-event from 8.30am to permit the formation of the Parade followed by closures along Ewell Road from the junction with Hollyfield Road to St Marks Hill from 10am to permit the safe passage of the parade along the processional route to the war memorial located by Surbiton Library. Fixed road closures will be kept in place throughout the entire event.

The road closures will remain in place until approximately 12.15pm once the parade has returned to Hollyfield Road.

During the above times, the procession route will need to be kept clear.

For reasons of security police and stewards will not be allowing any vehicles to enter:

  • Hollyfield Road (from 8.30am until around12.15pm)
  • Ewell Road between Holyfield Road and St Marks Hill (from 9am until around 12.15pm)

For businesses, from 9am until around 12.15pm noon during these times, the council asks you to notify your suppliers that access will regrettably be denied accordingly.

New Malden

On Sunday, 9 November 2025 at 9am there will be a procession leading from Presburg Road, across the Fountain Roundabout, along the High Street to the war memorial located at the front of Waitrose where a Service will take place at 9.30am.

Several contingents from local organisations will also be taking part in this Service.

A series of road closures will be put in place as authorised by the Temporary Traffic Notice, including:

  • Presburg Road will be closed pre-event from 8.30am until the parade has exited the road.
  • New Malden High Street between the Fountain Roundabout and Blagdon Road will be closed only for the parade's outwards march.
  • The High Street from Blagdon Road through to Dukes Avenue will be fully closed from 8.30am until the parade has passed the location at approximately 10.45am at the latest.
  • Blagon Road will be reopened at 9.30am once the marching companies pass the junction where Blagdon Road meets the High Street.

During the above times, the procession route will need to be kept clear. For reasons of security police and stewards will not be allowing any vehicles to enter:

  • High Street, between Fountain Roundabout and Dukes Road
  • Presburg Road
  • Blagdon Road

For businesses, the council asks that you notify your suppliers that they will not be able to get access to the area between 7am and 11.30am.

Chessington

There will be a small group of the Royal British Legion representatives, the Mayor's representative, local councillors and other organisations at 10.55am 9 November 2025 attending to pay their respects at the War Memorial and observe the National two-minute silence.

The estimated finish time is 11.15am.
