One of the largest leisure facilities planned for development in the UK is coming to Kingston.

Construction company Cundall have been appointed to provide all areas of engineering expertise to assist with the delivery of the new Kingston leisure and Community Building, alongside architecture firm FaulknerBrowns.

The leisure facility will be built in Kingston's historic town centre and be accessible to all residents.

The building will include a 25m pool, teaching pool, six-court sports hall, open rooftop space, rooftop five-a-side football pitch, a gym and a climbing wall, among other things.

The space is expected to meet the various needs of local people.

Leader of Kingston Council and Portfolio Holder for Finance, Councillor Andreas Kirsch said: "We are working with leading architects FaulknerBrowns to deliver a truly inclusive space, accessible for all, environmentally sustainable, and family and disabled friendly.

"It will also celebrate our borough's rich heritage and history.

"The new complex will help revitalise our town centre, making it a prime place to visit for culture, entertainment and leisure as well as shopping."
