A former Kingston Councillor has thanked Kingston Hospital for saving his life.

Andrew Day was a Conservative Councillor for Chessington and Hook North.

Mr Day tested positive for coronavirus in early February but took himself to A and E when his oxygen levels dropped.

He was in the ICU and then a regular ward for a fortnight - but the care has not stopped now.

Andrew told Radio Jackie: "They do a daily call with me and keep a regular check on my oxygen levels.

"Once you say goodbye to your loved ones you don't know what's going to happen.

"I got the best treatment I could wish for and they're doing a fantastic job under very difficult circumstances."
