Co Op to open new store in Kingston town centre

Supermarket chain Co Op is set to open a new store in Kingston's town centre.

The new store will be located in the site of the former Wenzel's Bakery on Clarence Street, which closed last month due to its performance and future potential.

To prepare for the new store's opening, Co Op has applied to Kingston Council for permission to supply alcohol for off premises purposes from 7am – 11pm seven days a week.

Residents have until 16 December to submit representations on this application and can do so here.

The company has also applied for permission to have outdoor seating to the front of the premises Relevant Purpose for the purpose of consuming food or drink.

Should the application be approved, the outdoor seating area will have three isotop tables and six polypropylene reinforced with glass fibre chairs, metal litter bin, and banners with stainless steel posts.

The area will be open during the store's operating hours of 7am – 7pm seven days a week.

Residents have until Wednesday, 3 December to submit representations on this application and can do so here.
