Earlier this month, a planning application was made to have a new accessible route built in Surbiton Station.

The application proposal asks for a "Construction of a new public corridor through the currently disused Downside (South-Eastern) Booking Hall, to provide lift access on the south-east side of Surbiton Station.

"Widening of an existing side entrance to allow wheelchair access and replacement of the non-original door and the canopy above. Improvement of step-free access to the station and platforms."

The council is yet to make a decision on this application.
