A man has been pronounced dead after a house fire occurred on Elm Street in Kingston last night, 21 October.

Two men were rescued with one declared dead at the scene.

In total, 29 people were led to safety from the surrounding blocks and the building was severely damaged.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), an eye witness reported that at around 8.30pm, they saw "Several fire engines, police and ambulances in attendance".

They said: "I could smell the smoke from the middle of Richmond Park, whilst cycling home, so went for a closer look to see what was going on."

Video footage of the scene shows rescue devices in action.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and the fire brigade have been contacted for more information.
