A new independent coffee shop, Monte Bianco, opened its doors on Saturday, 12 October.

While Monte Bianco is still in its soft launch stage while the owner waits for a few finishing touches to arrive, it is set to open officially on Monday.

Monte Bianco is housed in the old Polish Deli next to Renas, a Turkish bar and restaurant, which is also opening soon.

Run by Alaistair Roberts, Kingston, Monte Bianco sells its own branded coffees along with pastries and soft drinks.

Roberts told Kingston Nub News that he also hopes to use the back area as a kitchen in the future so that he can sell food.

He said: "The idea is to keep the shop simple, nothing too crazy, selling good coffee and pastries, and having a nice design.

The interior of Monte Bianco is incredibly bright, with its large front window, lightly coloured panelled walls, and white tables; simple yet effective.

Despite having another day job currently, Roberts has always wanted to start his own business.

After having his second child, he decided during his paternity leave that "now was the time".

Roberts likes "going to nice coffee shops" and has "always been into branding", hence the idea to open a coffee shop that sells its own branded coffee.

As Roberts' wife is Italian, he hopes to give Monte Bianco an Italian- style vibe.

Having his own dog, Lily, Monte Bianco is also dog friendly.
