From the editor's desk: "Without a date it's a dream"

"Without a date it's a dream," is a phrase my mum often uses.

She also uses the phrase "Many a man had his head blown off and said nothing'" - but that's not as important at the minute.

The Prime Minister released his roadmap out of lockdown this week and it was met with excitement.

The idea that this is the last lockdown that normal life (well as normal as we will probably ever get again) could happen by June 21st seemed a fanciful prospect just days ago.

Now in truth it could still be a fanciful prospect - a number of the government's plans have gone wrong during this pandemic - however I would not begrudge anyone feeling optimistic.

The idea that you could have a party with however many people you like seems crazy - imagine saying that just 12 months ago.

But these dates - whether they actually coincide with restrictions relaxing or not - are something to aim for.

All through this lockdown I have been patiently been counting the days down until February 22nd to reveal the next step to freedom.

Now March 29th is the next date marked in the calendar.

Let's just hope that the continuing success of the vaccination program and everyone still following the rules means we can get out of this by June 21st.
