Lee O'Leary said it almost felt strange to be on the winning side as Kingstonian beat Brightlingsea Regent 3-0 in Isthmian League Premier Division.
Tyrese Owen bagged a brace and Jack Strange added the third just after the hour mark as Kingstonian leaped up to 11th in the table with their convincing win against Brightlingsea.
O'Leary was really happy with the improvements that were made from the weekend defeat against Wingate and Finchley and that it was an unfamiliar feeling to be on the winning side.
Speaking to club media after the game, he said: "It is a little bit of an unnatural feeling for the lads with the amount of draws that we have had, so it was good to get the win tonight.
"I was really happy with how positive we were and that we played forwards when we can, there weren't so many sideways and backwards passes.
"Which we did in the last ten to 15 minutes which I wasn't so happy with, but the game was pretty much done and it felt like the opposition gave up a little bit.
"The lads' intent from minute one, I felt like there was an intensity to their play in and out of possession.
"I thought our positioning in transition still wasn't great and we suffered a few moments in the first half, but on the whole, I was pleased with the performance."
O'Leary was pleased with the performance and result but maintained that there were still a lot of improvements that needed to be made.
He said: "Obviously the performance was a lot better tonight than it was at the weekend and we had a result to match.
"Still there is a lot of work to do, there are still some bits that we are not so happy with, we gave up too many chances and too many shots on our goal and we are definitely not converting enough chances still. There is loads of work to do and loads of improving to do.
"I felt like his [Tyrese Owen] performance dipped in the last few games playing him in the six and I felt we needed to bring Sean Bonnett-Johnson in tonight.
"I thought he was excellent in giving us a little bit more experience and know-how and he has that personality and character which I thought we lacked at the weekend and it also enabled Ty to be a bit freer in his role.
"I thought he was excellent and as soon as you get him in certain spaces and facing the opposition back line, he is a real danger. He has been excellent but I still think there is loads more to come from him."
