Kingstonian shrugged off Saturday's FA disappointment in perfect fashion by comfortably seeing off Brightlinsea Regent 3-0 under the lights at Imperial Fields on Wednesday evening.

Only two points separated the sides prior to kick off with Lee O'Leary's men winless in their last six outings in all competitions.

It was an electric opening 10 minutes to the game with Kingstonian asserting early dominance. Neat link up play between Kieron Cadogan and Kwesi Ntim set the latter through on goal before being hauled down in the box and leaving referee Nick Metcalfe no choice but to point to the spot.

Cadogan, looking to make amends for Saturday's missed penalty, stepped up and saw his tame effort well saved by Brightlingsea's Charlie Turner. There were immediate penalty shouts from both K's players and fans as Ntim seemed to be clattered into as Regent's defence scrambled the ball behind for a corner, but Metcalfe waved away the hopeful appeals.

It was the away side who then came closest to opening the scoring. First, Luke Woodward fed Joshua Ruskoe down the left whose shot narrowly headed wide of the far post before Luke Skinner found himself in space on the edge of the area after a lapse in concentration from the K's midfield, however the centre half's effort drifted wide.

Kingstonian responded strongly to arguably Brightlingsea's best spell of the game. Skipper Kenny Beaney sent a pinpoint cross into the box but Tyrese Owen could not divert his header either side of Turner between the sticks, Corey Parchment then found himself in space down the right flank and sent a blistering effort crashing against the post with Turner beaten.

Moments later and Kingstonian's pressure finally payed off. Again, clever play from Cadogan and Ntimi found Owen in space on the edge of the box and the number 6 fired home to give the K's a deserved lead.

The opener had Kingstonian in the mood and before long one became two. Debutant Nodirbek Bobomurodov showed quick feet on the edge of the box to skip away from a few challenges before teeing up Own who dispatched nonchalantly for his fourth goal in three games with three minutes to go of the first half.

With four additional minutes added on at the end of the opening 45, the K's really should have headed down the tunnel three or four to the good. Bobomurodov's clever through ball sent Cadogan one on one but the forward delayed his shot giving Turner enough time to smother the danger. Parchment then put his effort just wide of the post after finding space in the R's box as Metcalfe brought the first half to an end.

It was a cagey start to the second half with neither keeper really tested until Parchment let fire from 25 yards forcing Turner to turn the ball behind for a corner. The K's no 3 then whipped a teasing ball into the box which was met by Jack Strange who rose highest to head home and put the game to bed on minute 63.

U18's star Iker Noguera Leon, came on in the final 5 minutes and nearly grabbed himself an assist. The midfielder showed impressive vision to thread a perfectly weighted through ball to Cadogan but again the number 9 delayed his finish and Turner was equal to his shot.

As Metcalfe blew the final whistle it brought an end to a dominant performance from Kingstonian and a welcome three points after a stuttering start to the season.

As Lee O'Leary's men climb up to 11th, the gaffer will be hoping his side will take the momentum into Saturday's away trip to Horsham who occupy 7th spot.
