A local yacht club is hosting a regatta on the Thames in Kingston this weekend (4 to 5 September).

Minima Yacht Club, based on the riverside just off Kingston high street, is hosting the event.

Sailors at the club will be competing against their Twickenham, Teddington and Surbiton rivals in three daily races.

The regatta will take place on the stretch of Thames south of Kingston Bridge and feature a variety of boat types including Lasers (as seen in the Olympics), Solos, Enterprises and Merlins.

Racing starts at 2pm on Saturday 4 and 11am on Sunday 5.

There will be a New Sailor's Event and a paddle sprint around Raven's Ait on Saturday.
