Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, has said they will "fight for Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) women" as data reveals that an estimated 4,750 women in Kingston and Surbiton could be affected.

The Government has announced that it will not compensate women hit by changes to the state pension age, despite backing campaigners in opposition, with Ed Davey MP saying that they have been "betrayed" and calling the decision "simply wrong".

Data from the House of Commons Library, using population estimates, indicates that 4,750 women in Kingston and Surbiton could be impacted by the decision.

Ed Davey MP has called on the Government to "urgently change course and rethink this shameful decision."

Commenting on the data, Ed Davey, MP said: "These shocking figures show that thousands of people in Kingston and Surbiton have been betrayed by the Government's decision to not compensate WASPI women. This is simply wrong.

"The Government has turned its back on millions of women who were wronged through no fault of their own, ignoring the independent Ombudsman's recommendations, and that is frankly disgraceful.

"The Conservatives left our economy in a shambles, but pensioners shouldn't be asked to pay the price.

"The Liberal Democrats will fight for WASPI women in Kingston and Surbiton, and the Government must urgently change course and rethink this shameful decision."
