Every Thursday we round up all the eye-catching events occurring in your area over the weekend.

Shooting Hedda Gabler, Rose Theatre, 7:30pm 

Have you seen the Rose's latest co-production with The Norwegian Ibsen Company yet? Shooting Hedda Gabler unfolds on a movie set in Norway where filming is underway for a film adaptation of Hedda Gabler. Inspired by conversations born out of the #MeToo movement, Nina Segal has created an affectionate, sharp and chilling reframing of Henrik Ibsen's 130-year-old story, directed by Jeff James. 

Friday 20 October 

Halloween Treasure Hunt, John Lewis 

Celebrate the spooky season at John Lewis in Kingston upon Thames with this exciting Halloween Treasure Hunt! All you have to do is find all six letters around the store to claim your Halloween treat: Pick up a form from Customer Services on Floor 1; Write down the letter from each poster you find and rearrange them to make a Halloween-themed six letter word; Go back to Customer Services with your answer to claim your Halloween treat! 

Crack Comedy, The Grey Horse, 8:30pm-11:30pm 

Crack Comedy specializes in bringing the circuit's best acts to intimate venues and Ram Jam Records has welcomed some huge names and also many rising stars. This week's lineup features: Kate Martin, Daisy Earl, Christian Reilly and Ben van Der Velde. 

Saturday 21 October 

Kingston Antiques & Vintage Market, 10am-4pm 

Nestled in the bustling Ancient Marketplace, this quaint guest market is a treasure trove of eclectic finds, curios, and artefacts. For even more antiques extend your visit to the market with a visit to Antiques of Kingston in Old London Road. While you're at it, don't forget to scout out our second hand and thrift stores, located in Old London Road and elsewhere throughout the town. 

The Origin of the Faeces: Poo from the Zoo, FUSEBOX 2 Bucklands Wharf, 11am-6pm 

A weird and wonderful display of the relationship between animals and humans. Against a backdrop of climate destruction, this exhibition reminds us of what we stand to lose and what we should celebrate most from the world around us. 

RED by John Logan, at The Cornerhouse, Surbiton 7:45pm 

Master abstract expressionist Mark Rothko just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art, a series of murals for New York's Four Seasons restaurant. But when his young assistant, Ken, gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the agonising possibility that his crowning glory could also become his undoing. John Logan's RED was nominated for 7 Olivier Awards (2009) and winner of six Tony Awards 2010, including Best New Play. 

Sunday 22 October 

Kingston Half Marathon, 8:30am 

The Royal Borough of Kingston's famous Half Marathon, starting and finishing in the historic ancient Market Place, is the perfect finale to the summer racing season. The course is fast and flat, with tremendous riverside views on a mix of traffic free and road sections. Ideal for runners wanting to grab a late half marathon PB or those looking for a scenic and pleasurable run. Kingston Market Place provides an atmospheric finish, with plenty of stalls offering a variety of foods, and many local restaurants and pubs for those looking for more leisurely post race relaxation. Organised by Quicksilver Running, you can be sure of a professional setup with plenty of friendly and experienced marshals to guide you safely around the course. 

The Watergardens - Open Garden, Warren Road, 1:30pm-4pm 

Japanese landscaped garden originally part of Coombe Wood Nursery, planted by the Veitch family in the 1860s. Approx 9 acres with ponds, streams and waterfalls. Many rare trees, which in spring and autumn provide stunning colour. For the tree lover this is a must-see garden. Gardens attractive to wildlife.
