Her Story: Brown Girl Magazine International Women's Day – Saturday, 9 March
This International Women's Day, Brown Girl Magazine will be screening two powerful short documentaries on female migrant voices.
Through the power of storytelling, their journeys, albeit different, run parallel in survival, empowerment and identity.
After both screenings take place, there will be a chance for audience members to share their stories or poetry during an open mic session over chai and snacks.
Runs from 6pm to 9pm.
Meet Noel Fitzpatrick at Waterstones Kingston – Saturday, 9 March
Waterstones Kingston is hosting supervet himself, Noel Fitzpatrick, as he signs copies of his heartwarming book Keira & Me.
Based on the real Keira and Noel and their life together, Keira & Me captures the true, powerful bond between human and animal.
This makes Waterstone's signing event a must-see for animal lovers everywhere.
The signing begins at 2pm, and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis as the event is not ticketed.
Bang Bang Bunny, Le Rox, COWZ, Queenie & The Peanuts – Saturday, 9 March
For an alternative IWD evening, head over to The Fighting Cocks, who will be celebrating some incredible female-led bands. This stellar line-up includes Bang Bang Bunny, Le Rox, COWZ and Queenie & The Peanuts.
Doors open at 7:30pm.
Flowers We Give To Ukraine at Rose Theatre Café – all weekend
You still have time to see the Ukrainian textile exhibit held at the Rose Theatre Café.
Organised by local Polish curator Magdalena Glowacka, the show's five tapestries have seen contributions from 180 individuals across the world, most of them migrants or refugees who have had to flee their home countries.
A number of contributors are Kingston locals who attend Ariadne's Thread, a weekly community group that meets at Baking Ideas in nearby Tolworth.
Described by Mayor Cllr Diane White as "fostering understanding, empathy, and unity" within the borough, the exhibition is a must-see.
Flowers We Give To Ukraine will run until 15 March at Rose Theatre Café.
