Looking for something Christmassy to do in Kingston this weekend?

Here's our pick of the unmissable events in and around our town which are bound to get you in the festive mood.

FRIDAY and SUNDAY:Palace of Stardust at Hampton Court Palace

An enchanting new light trail through the gardens of Henry VIII's former home, with astounding illuminations inspired by the Palace's astronomical clock.

The after-dark experience has a range of seasonal food and drink for visitors to enjoy and runs from 4-8pm every day (last entry 7.30pm) throughout December except for the 11th, 24th, 25th and 26th.

Cost: £12.50 for adults, £8 for children, under 5s go free.

Children aged 5-15 must be accompanied by an adult. FRIDAY and SATURDAY: Dick Whittington Putney Light Operatic Society brings Dick Whittington to Kingston College's Arthur Cottrell Theatre. The event is billed as 'a good old-fashioned family panto' and performed by PLOS, an amateur dramatics society based in the borough of Wandsworth. When: Friday 10 December at 7.45pm, Saturday 11 December at 11am and 2.30pm Cost: £20, £16 concessions, £18 per person for group bookings of 10+ SATURDAY and SUNDAY: Santa's Grotto at Raven's Ait Island The Thames island at Surbiton is putting on a weekend of festive family activities. This includes a Petting Zoo (Saturday), Donkey ride (Sunday) plus Santa's Grotto and appearances by Elsa from Frozen. For parents, mulled wine will be flowing throughout the weekend and there will be a gin masterclass in the afternoon The event runs from 12-4pm on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December.
