The Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, Sir Ed Davey, says that the UK deserves a more stable Prime Minister after current PM Keir Starmer has today (Monday, 22 June) announced his full resignation as Prime Minister and as Labour leader.

In an exclusive interview with Nub News, the Lib Dem leader said: "The British people are sick of being let down by an endless merry-go-round of Prime Ministers while nothing really changes for them.

"This time must be different. It can't just be about changing who's in Number 10, it has to be about changing our broken politics so we can fix our country.

"That means tackling the cost of living with a bold new deal with Europe, fixing social care to end the NHS crisis and giving power back to communities through a fair voting system.

"Whoever becomes Prime Minister needs to drop the caution and complacency and show the ambition our country deserves."

Sir Ed saw his party grow across the country during last month's local elections when the Lib Dems took over 15 councils, including in Kingston and nearby Richmond.

Surely I cannot be the only one who is absoluutely fed up with the prolonging of the falsehood that local council elections have anything to do with Goverment policies and yet, here we are again, mentioning Ed Davey (and 'his' party) in the same sentence as 'local government elections. The media (yourselves included) are responsible for the state various coucnils are in with no viable opposition as it persists in selling the council elections as being important to the Westminster parties and hence in a mindless, unkowing and because of intentional (or ignorant) media postings, people think that their local councillors have something to do with the Westminster MPS and they don't.

In Kingston, the falsehood persisted in the pre-election door drops with images of Farage, Starmer, etc. and the unknowing voted Lib Dem thinking they were supporting Ed Davey, amnd our council is again in a mess because of it!

So, put this to the test, ask ED davey to ask his 44 councillors in Kingston to start making the non-elected officers at the council to STOP wasting money ! (I have written umpteen times to my councillor highlighting simple changes that would save money and either it falls on deaf ears or, more likely, the officers at the coucnil ignore!
So if ED davey wants something to change, start at grass roots level and kick the money wasting civil saervants at the council into shape instead of allowing them to be untouchables!
