The Proper Blokes Club, a walk and talk community project for men, has created a new group for Norbiton.

The new Norbiton group hosts walks every Wednesday, which will meet outside Norbiton Station at 6.30pm.

The walks are free and open to men who want to get fitter and have a chat.

However, the club cannot take people with complex mental health needs or disabilities on the walks as The Proper Blokes Club is a "peer-to-peer support group without any professionals on the ground", says its founder Scott Johnson.

Attendees of the walk will walk around the local area for about an hour and end at the meeting point.

They are for "for anyone that wants to get out and train, have a chat, meet new local people, and get a little bit more active," Johnson says.

Johnson founded The Proper Blokes Club in Southwark in 2020 and the club now has groups all over London, including one which meets at Surbiton Station every Tuesday.

The Proper Blokes Club started its groups within the borough in October 2024 in partnership with Kingston Council to encourage more men to get active and to get them talking about mental health.

Speaking about the club more generally, Johnson said: "Our aim is to try to get more men not only active to better aid their physical health, but also to support their mental health as well.

"We're trying to get lads comfortable having these conversations. However, 95% of the conversations we have is just everyday banter and general chat, and it's really relaxed.

"But then we allow that 5% for anyone who actually needs to have a chat about something a bit more personal and a bit more deep.

"And they can do that because it's a safe environment."
