Surbiton: police appeal after stabbing on Portsmouth Road

Police have released an appeal for information after a man was stabbed at an address in Surbiton two days ago (29 June).

The victim, who is in his fifties, was wounded on his lower arm and later taken to hospital. His condition is not life-threatening.

The attack happened at River Court , a residential area on Portsmouth Road, at around 2am and following reports of a burglary at the address

Police have arrested a man in connection with the stabbing and are appealing to the public for any information they may have about the incident.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 02:00hrs on Tuesday 29 June to an address in River Court, Portsmouth Road, Surbiton after a report of a burglary.

"Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service ,and a 53-year-old male was treated for a stab wound to his lower arm.

"He was later taken to hospital. His condition is not life threatening."

"A crime scene was put in place. A 28-year-old man was later arrested. Enquiries continue.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Tweet MetCC quoting CAD 591/29 June.

"Alternatively, to remain 100% anonymous call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
