There were dramatic scenes in Richmond Park this morning (30 June) after the driver of a rental car crashed into a fence on Dark Hill.

In a statement on social media, the Royal Parks Police confirmed that the driver was not injured and no other parties were involved.

Photos of an officer attending the scene of the crash were posted at 10.51am by the @ldnparks Twitter account.

The incident took place at the bottom of Dark Hill, which is located near Kingston Gate and runs along the south eastern edge of the park.

The hill has a steep gradient of 6 per cent and is popular with cyclists.

In 2017 it was named as one of London's best biking hills by the Independent.
