A Surbiton chicken shop is seeking permission to extend its operating hours until 2am seven days a week.

Chicken King, which is located at 54 Tolworth Broadway, currently operates seven days a week from 10am – 11pm.

While it is applying for extended operating hours, it is not applying to sell alcohol; a licensing application document says it is a "family-friendly fast-food shop" selling fried chicken burgers and soft drinks.

To help prevent crime and disorder which may stem from the shop's extended operating hours, the shop's owner says that Chicken King has CCTV in place with "good coverage" and that staff will maintain "good communication with local communities and authorities".

The deadline for local representations for this application is 9 June.
