Surbiton cafe could get outdoor seating area
By Tilly O'Brien 7th May 2026
A cafe in Surbiton could get an outdoor seating area.
Koffee Room, which is located on Alexandra Drive, has submitted a pavement licence application to the council seeking permission to add an outdoor seating area "immediately adjacent to the café frontage" for the purpose of consuming food or drink.
The proposed area would consist of six tables and 12 chairs, and Koffee Room says that "A minimum unobstructed pedestrian route will be maintained at all times".
If this application is approved, the outdoor seating area would be open during the cafe's operating hours of 7am - 5pm Monday through Friday and 7am - 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Speaking about the furniture it plans to use, Koffee Room said: "The proposed furniture consists of six small round pedestal café tables and twelve black metal café chairs.
"All furniture is freestanding, lightweight and fully removable, with no fixed structures attached to the pavement. The furniture will be positioned directly outside the café frontage and will be removed and stored inside the premises outside trading hours.
"The furniture is intended solely for customers consuming food and drink purchased from Koffee Room."
Residents have until Monday, 11 May to submit representations for this application and can do so here.
