Welcome to your weekly update of what's on in and around Kingston.

Every Thursday we round up all the eye-catching events occurring in your area over the weekend.

Read on for Kingston's not-to-be missed outings this week, and remember: you can add your local event for free using the Nub It button in our What's On section!

Saxon Fayre

About: We've all heard about Kingston's rich history. From the coronation stone, the ancient marketplace, our proximity to several royal residences – even the name boasts the town's heritage. But how much do we actually know about the people who lived in our town before us?

Kingston Heritage Service and Kingston Museum are hoping to change that with this weekend's Saxon Fayre. This family-friendly affair will host a number of performances, re-enactments, and demonstrations alongside stalls showcasing the skills and trades of Kingston's pre-Norman residents.

Be it leather work, beekeeping, or a falcon display, there's plenty of fun to be had at this historical day out.

When: Saturday 27 July @ 11am until 5pm.

Where: Ancient Market Place, Kingston Upon Thames,  KT1 1JP.

Price: Free.

World Korean Food Festival

About: For something more contemporary, head down to New Malden and celebrate the area's rich Korean community at the 2024 World Korean Food Festival.

Expect K-pop singers, dance performances, a taekwondo showcase and kimchi demonstration along with merch and other cultural stalls.

Wait – did we mention the food?

When: Saturday 27 July @ 12pm to 7pm.

Where: New Malden Methodist Church, New Malden, KT3 4BY.

Price: £8.08, with dishes available to pre-order starting from £5.94.

High Tide Festival

About: We are sure we don't need to tell you about Twickenham's High Tide Festival, but in a nutshell, it is a free, volunteer-run festival that has seen dozens of musicians play at iconic venues across the town since its founding in 2019.

The event is mostly funded by local people and businesses, helping the organisers to fairly compensate their 60-plus line-up for their time and talent.

This year will also see three street markets hosting traders from across south west London – not to be missed. Hope to see you there!

When: Sunday 28 July

Where: All around Twickenham – check the venue list here.

Price: Free!

Disco Soul Night

About: For those who like to get retro, we've got some good news for you – Teddington Constitutional Club's Disco Soul Night is back for its 3rd anniversary!

Come join Disco Sue and Markus and strut your funky stuff, relive your youth, or just enjoy the good music (and reasonably-priced drinks).

Expect "70s disco & soul music, a handful of 60s Motown, and a splash of northern thrown in for good measure," say the organisers.

When: Friday 26 July @ 7:30pm to midnight.

Where: Teddington Constitutional Club, 5 Stanley Road, Teddington, TW11 8TP.

Price: £5, cash on the door; £4 for TCC members. "You won't get more fun for your fiver!"
