South Western Railway services disrupted after person dies at Barnes Station

A person has died after an incident on the tracks at Barnes railway station - shutting South Western Railway (SWR) services for hours, including all SWR services between Twickenham and Putney and those between Clapham Junction and Hounslow / Richmond.

The lines have now reopened.

Emergency services were called to Barnes station today, Wednesday 12 February, at 7am to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Medics pronounced the person dead at the scene and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A file is being prepared for the coroner.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Barnes railway station at around 7am today (February 12) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
