South Western Railway confirms train service during strikes and industrial action

South Western Railway (SWR) has confirmed service hours during RMT union strike on 29 July and industrial action by ASLEF between 31 July and 5 August.
On Saturday 29 July a significantly reduced service will operate on a limited number of lines due to strike action by the RMT union. The disruption will affect SWR amongst 13 other train operating companies.
Stuart Meek, SWR's Chief Operating Officer, said: "We are very sorry for the large amount of disruption our customers will experience as a result of this damaging action by the RMT and ASLEF unions."
Substantial parts of the SWR network will be closed and trains will only run between 7am and 7pm. The last trains of the day will depart around 5pm.
Customers are advised to only travel if their journeys are absolutely necessary. If customers still intend to travel, SWR advises they should check their entire journey. Updated journey planners will display other the train operators affected.
A full service is expected to operate on the Island Line, however customers are still advised to check before travelling.

Journey planners will be updated on Friday 28 July and SWR advises customers to check their entire journey as other train operators will also be affected.
An hourly service will operate on the Island Line.
On Saturday 5 August there will be no trains between Barnes and Feltham via Hounslow due to engineering work in the Staines area.
The final trains of the day will depart earlier than usual. Customers are again encourage to check journey planners which will be update after Friday 28 July.

Further industrial action by the ASLEF union has been announced between Monday 7 and Saturday 12 August. Information on SWR services during this period will be confirmed in due course.
The RMT continue to strike as it accuses train operators of failing to make a new pay offer with improvement to working conditions and job security.
The Aslef driver's union is initiating industrial action as it calls for an overtime ban in an ongoing dispute on pay and railway conditions.
