Signature at Coombe Hill Manor, a luxury care home in Kingston, pulled out all the stops for their Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the bank holiday weekend.

Joining the millions of people celebrating the queen's 70-year reign from Thursday 2 June - Sunday 5 June, residents at Coombe Hill Manor got involved through a host of activities including the planting of an apple and cherry tree in honour of Her Majesty in the care home's garden.

The first person to add their spadeful of earth was Coombe Hill Manor's oldest resident, Irene, with the 101-year-old casting her mind back to clear memories of the queen's coronation 70 years ago.

Live music was provided by Graffiti Classics, a comedy cabaret string quartet, as well as rock n roll from Tim Arthur and peaceful melodies from harpist, Rebecca Jones.

The care home's Jubilee party included barbecues, cocktails and afternoon tea which accompanied the music in Coombe Hill's gardens.

Commenting on the celebrations, Activity Manager Lisa Maria said: "So many of our residents love her Majesty the Queen, and so it was important to them to celebrate her 70th anniversary as Monarch.

"We always want to go the extra mile for those in our care and we know how important celebrations, live music and mentally stimulating activities are for our resident's quality of life. The queen's jubilee was the ideal opportunity to go beyond our daily events calendar and have a big celebration fit for such an extraordinary milestone."

The month of June marks an eventful time for the Kingston care home with anniversary celebrations just around the corner. Staff and residents will come together on the 24th June to celebrate Coombe Hill Manor's eighth birthday.
