Queen Mary Hall in Norbiton is set to reopen in mid-April, Kingston Council says.

The hall, which is on the Cambridge Road Gardens Estate, closed in August after a small fire took place there.

No one was hurt in the incident, but there was substantial damage to the interior of the hall, meaning that local groups and charities, such as Cambridge Road Estate (CREst) Community Group who has since been using St Peter's Church in Norbiton, could no longer use it.

A Kingston Council spokesperson told Nub News: "We are planning to reopen Queen Mary Hall in mid-April.

"The safety of our tenants and hirers is our priority and we want to ensure the building is safe and fully operational before we open. We are working with all our regular hirers to confirm their return."

The hall is used by many local groups, such as youth clubs, church services, and social enterprise organisations, among others.

Most notably, Queen Mary Hall is home to CREst Community Group's food bank and the Tuesday Lunch Club, which serves vulnerable residents in the area.
