Commuters at Surbiton Station on Friday evening (27 February) were disrupted by shouts from a man sprinting down platform one and up the stairs away from a British Transport Police (BTP) officer.

The man is reported to have been involved in an assault at the station.

A spokesperson for BTP told Nub News: "Officers were called at around 5.30pm on 27 February to reports of an assault at Surbiton railway station. One man left the scene.

"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information that could help police should text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 using the reference 532 of 27 February."
