Obesity on the rise in Kingston borough

Figures, published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, reveal the proportion of adults in England estimated to be living with obesity in 2023/24, broken down by local authority area.
The figures were found using data from the Sport England Active Lives Adult Survey.
And they found that the proportion of adults estimated to be living with obesity in Kingston Upon Thames in 2023 / 2024 has increased by 0.3 per cent from 2022 / 2023, returning to the same percentage in 2018 / 2019.
According to the figures, Kingston's proportion was 15.18 per cent in both 2023 / 2024 and 2018 / 2019 but was 15.5 per cent in 2022 / 2023.
Yet next door Richmond presents a decrease in percentage numbers in the years 2022 / 2023 and 2023 / 2024, dropping from 20.5 per cent to 14.7 per cent.
Despite its increase, Kingston still has a lower percentage than many other local authorities like Bolton or Slough whose percentages are in the 30s.
