The new Unilever HQ in Kingston, which is set to open this spring, could supply alcohol both on and off the premises.

Unilever has submitted an application to Kingston Council seeking permission to transfer its current alcohol premise license in its former site in Lever House, 3 St James Road, to its new neighbouring premises in Sunlight House, 22 Eden Street.

In an application document, Unilever said: "This application seeks to mirror the current premises license in terms of hours and regulated activities, with the addition of some updated conditions.

"Sodexo as the current contracted hospitality supplier will continue to deliver these services at the new location and is the proposed Premises Licence Holder."

The proposed license will be for the sixth, seventh, and eighth floor of the building.

Unilever added: "An off-sale provision is intended to allow catering (including limited alcohol provision) to be delivered to other areas of the premises upon request.

"The off-sale provision will also allow attendees to move around the building with open containers. Off-sales from the premises in open containers is prohibited by means of condition.

"Once a satisfactory new license has been granted and trading has commenced, the Intention is to surrender the existing premises licence."

Currently, the company has a license for the sale of alcohol for consumption both on and off the premises for the hours of 8am - 11pm Monday through Sunday, and it hopes to keep these hours for the new license.

Should its application be approved, Unilever says that "Licensable activities shall at all times remain ancillary to the corporate and/or training use of the premises by Unilever UK Ltd".

It also says that there shall be no advertising of the licensed facilities outside the premises.

It added that alcohol will only be sold or supplied to directors, partners, officers and employees of Unllever UK (and subsidiaries and affiliated companies thereof) and their bonafide guests, including persons attending by prior invitation a private or organised function in the premises.

Residents have until Monday, 27 April to submit representations for this application and can do so here.
