A New Malden optician has been honoured for going the extra mile for customers by the founders of Specsavers.

The Dame Mary Perkins Award for outstanding customer care has been awarded to Specsavers New Malden for going above and beyond.

It is one of only seven Specsavers businesses in the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to receive the award this year.

Dame Mary Perkins said: "Caring for our customers is at the heart of what Specsavers is all about and the winners of this award are shining examples of how our colleagues do that every day. Congratulations to all of them."

Examples of where Specsavers New Malden has provided outstanding customer care includes undertaking an eye test for a 91-year-old with Alzheimer's Disease.

The customer's grandchild said the team were "lovely" and made a difficult trip much easier for her as a carer and her grandmother.

Karina Peshawaria, retail director and Bhavisha Patel, optometrist director from New Malden Specsavers, said the team is "honoured" to receive the award.

It is in recognition of achieving consistently high levels of customer service, satisfaction and positive feedback.
