A new "luxury" care home is set to open in Surbiton this summer.

Signature at Surbiton will be located at 187 Ewell Road.

In preparation for its opening, the Signature care home chain has submitted a licensing application seeking permission for the provision of films between 12pm and midnight seven days a week.

It also hopes to sell or supply alcohol during the same hours seven days a week.

To keep in line with the council's four licensing objectives, Signature says "All staff at the premises undergo statutory and mandatory training which includes equality and diversity, moving and handling, COSHH (control of substances hazardous to health), fire awareness, food hygiene and infection control, mental capacity act, emergency first aid at work, safeguarding vulnerable adults and health and safety."

The deadline for residents to submit representations for this application is today (Friday, 12 June).

The facilities offered in Signature at Surbiton include:

• A grand lobby with a reception, cafe and cosy corner
• A restaurant
• A private dining room for special occasions
• A lounge
• A cinema
• A garden room
• An activity hall
• An emporiumwith a hair salon, nail bar and therapy room
• A bistro
