Today, 25 April, marks National Telephone Day – so how have smartphone users across the capital been using their devices?

New research from Betway has revealed the most popular apps in London in the past year.

Utilizing the consumer research tool Brandwatch, the total number of online mentions for some of the most used apps in the UK were analysed and ranked, revealing Youtube as the most-used app in the city.

Meanwhile, the leader across the entire UK is X, formerly known as Twitter, seeing 3,230,750,583 online mentions since April 2023.

Third place sees another discrepancy in Netflix, which only managed eighth place in the national ranking.

The full national ranking can be found in Betway's full study here.
