A mural of Spectrum, a bear statue from Kingston's Bear Hunt event, has been commissioned by arts venue Fusebox.

The mural, created by local artist Jeru Nomi, is intended to honour the statue after it was thrown into the Thames by vandals last week.

The technicolour artwork can be found next to the statue's initial position outside Creative Youth's arts venue Fusebox, underneath John Lewis.

Spectrum was retrieved from the water by locals on Tuesday 16 April.

Responding to the incident, Kingston First said: "We're really upset to share that Spectrum, one of the bears that is part of our Bear Trail, had been targeted by vandals and thrown into the River Thames over the weekend of the 13th April 2024.

"Fortunately, there is CCTV coverage and we are liaising with the police on this."
