A serving Metropolitan officer has been dismissed without notice following a hearing for gross misconduct.

At a misconduct hearing that concluded on Wednesday, 19 July, PC Wesley Griffith, who was attached to the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command, was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at the level of gross misconduct.

It was alleged that in February 2022, PC Griffith's behaviour toward a woman, who was known to him, was controlling and coercive and that he assaulted her during an argument.

The incident happened when the officer was off duty.

The Chair, having considered all of the evidence found the case of gross misconduct proven and that he had breached the standards of professional behaviour. He was subsequently dismissed without notice.

Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah leading the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command said: "We must give the communities of London, a Police service that it deserves, and anyone that fails to meet that standard, cannot possibly remain in our organisation."
