Police have charged a man with two count of rape of a 16-year-old girl from Kingston.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police's South West Basic Command Unit received an allegation of rape on Saturday, 11th March from an address within the Kingston borough.

The following day, Sunday, March 12th, James Yeates from Chiswick was arrested and appeared at Wimbledon Magistrate's Court on Monday (March 13th) where he was charged with two counts of rape.

The 33-year-old has pleaded not-guilty to both counts.

Both charges relate to two separate offences of a 16-year-old-girl in her home in Kingston which took place on the 25th February, 2023 and the 9th of March, 2023.

Specialist officers are currently supporting the young female.

DCI Amanda Prince said: "Protecting women and girls from violent crimes is our priority. I urge any victim of a sexual offence to come forward to ensure the necessary support is put in place."

Mr Yeates has been remanded to Kingston Crown Court on the 5th April.
