Sisters Joanna and Ella Tilley ran the London Marathon last weekend, raising more than £8,000 for Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston upon Thames in memory of their late father.

The pair took on the gruelling 26.2 mile challenge on Sunday last week (26 April) as a tribute to their beloved dad Clive Tilley, who died last year aged 57 after living with pulmonary fibrosis.

As Clive's condition worsened, the family relied on vital support from Crossroads Care.

Inspired by their father - himself a passionate runner who completed the London Marathon in 2008 and served as Director of Old Deer Park Parkrun - the sisters dedicated months of training to prepare for the event.

Several members of the Crossroads staff team went along to cheer the sisters on (very loudly and enthusiastically!) from the sidelines.

Nicola Wilson, Crossroads Operations Manager, who was there, said: "Huge congratulations to Joanna and Ella.

"We're all so very proud and in awe of you both. What an incredible achievement this is and what an amazing atmosphere it was!"

Reflecting on the day, Ella said: "I am super proud of our fundraising and so delighted that we managed to have an incredible marathon day. Thank you to everyone who donated. We are so grateful for everyone's kindness."

It is not too late to show your support — every contribution makes a difference to the unpaid carers that Crossroads supports.
